Amalek

Burdened, I am with the weight of my thoughts.

A restless struggle within me stealing my strength.

The mask I wear no longer able to conceal me.

A mask I used to hide my ugliness.

In this battle I’m losing, I can’t see Moses’ arms.

Will someone join my fight and help me stand?

I am called Joshua but who am I?

I’ve read this 3 or 4 times and still don’t seem to have an appropriate comment for it.

    Debbie thinks it’s really good.

I think it sounds like you’re having an inner struggle and don’t know how else to word it without giving away things you don’t want to.

    But that’s just my opinion.

  2. Joshua says:

It is in fact an indication that I’m having an inner struggle, one I’ve had for about 3 weeks (Since my Maturity blog). Part 2 is coming this evening, I hope. I didn’t intend for this to be a poem, but I think it became one in the minds of my readers. I hope people see the references to Exodus 17.

I don’t know what to tell you.
I did, in fact, notice the reference to that particular battle, actually.

Your “Maturity Part 2″ that I saw you typing was never posted. That was one of the reasons we went on a walk – to give you time to finish your blog before we started the movie. That, and it was beautiful outside! =)

  4. Joshua says:

Well, now it’s done. I had to find the words for the second half of it and I wanted to be able to watch the movie and still perhaps be able to wake up in time in the morning.

“Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ.” (1 Cor 11:1)

  5. Rebekah says:

I was reading Exodus 17 and was struck by how the altar that was built afterwards was called “Jehovah Nissi”–the Lord is my Banner. Moses raised the rod, with the help of Aaron and Hur, but ultimately, it was God who was the banner that led Joshua to victory. Don’t get discouraged, look to your Banner. He will lead you to victory, even over yourself. (Romans 7:21-25)

I continue to pray that God will bring you into close relationships with men who will stand beside you. Blessings, my brother.
